Ghana Futsal head coach Philip Boakye says his side are the underdogs ahead of their TotalEnergies CAF Futsal Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2024 opener against Zambia on 11 April, 2024 in Rabat.
The West Africans are set for their second appearance in the fast-paced highly technical indoor football competition which will be played between 11 – 21 April, 2024 in the Moroccan capital.
« We are the underdogs, » Boakye said ahead of the opener.
Ghana, who finished as runners-up at their only previous appearance in the TotalEnergies CAF Futsal AFCON will be facing Andreas Cristoforetti’s Zambia at the magnificent Salle Prince Moulay Abdellah.
« Zambia has a very good team and they qualified from the playoffs. We’re here to qualify for the World Cup and that’s our ambition, » Philip added.
The Ghanaian coach heaped praise on the facilities at the two venues for the 7th edition of the tournament. The Salle Prince Moulay Abdellah and the Salle IBN Yassine are equipped with the state of the art facilities for a world class tournament.
« The surface here is one of the best I have seen. The structures are one of the best and I hope other countries will learn from Morocco.
In Ghana we are now improving with the new stadium that was built for the All African Games. There is a standard Futsal field in that stadium”, concluded the coach.
