Afrobeat megastars and sworn rivals Davido and Wizkid appear to have reignited their long-running feud after the latter took shots at the ‘Unavailable’ hitmaker, trolling him for at least two days nonstop.
Wizkid, who is considered one of the biggest Nigerian music exports globally, kicked off the clash when he took to his X account to belittle his nemesis – subsequently dragging Davido into the warfare, as both took turns to mercilessly tear into each other.
Not one to let a good fight go unexploited, Wizkid even surprisingly tore into renowned Afrobeat impresario and Mavin Records boss Don Jazzy, calling him a mere ‘influencer’.
The « Jaiye Jaiye » crooner, who hardly tweets but has a penchant for posting controversial tweets, set X on fire on Monday when he tweeted, “Every day I get things to say but my mouth no good” to which a fan responded, “Sha release song”, prompting Wizkid to respond with “Na by force.”
This singular tweet set the pace for an avalanche of subliminal conversations, resulting in Wizkid eventually taking sarcastic swipes at both Davido and Don Jazzy.
When another fan also pleaded with him to release a new song, Wizkid responded with a viral video of Davido on his knees begging an unseen person, with the caption, “Beg me like this. Send video.”
The not-so-friendly fire released by Wizkid then turned to Don Jazzy’s direction when a fan posted, “Wizkid Ladipo still talk nonsense yesterday o. Abeg enter that one too.”
Ladipoe is a Nigerian rap artiste signed to Jazzy’s Mavin Records.
The ‘Ojuelegba’ hit singer responded with an innuendo describing Don Jazzy as an influencer. He wrote, “Lol, never chatting to anyone signed to an influencer. Next.”
As things got heated up Wizkid kept the swords swinging, posting, “U know what..no point. delusional n*ggas. Pray for y’all.”
A displeased Davido quickly caught the sub, saying; “We’re not delusional. You’re sick man. »
The Starboy boss then quoted his own tweet with the controversial video of Davido appearing to kneel and beg a woman.
At this point the OBO crooner couldn’t contain his anger anymore, fuming: “That’s what I thought. Nothing to say! Exactly why I stopped wasting my clout and jeopardizing my millions of USD of endorsements on someone whose career was resurrected a few years ago just to die again. Next!”
Unfazed, Wizkid hit right back telling Davido that even if he retired, he would still not be « on his level ».
« I got nun to say to u my boy! I can retire today and you still not on my level. You be influencer with a song writer. Wish u well! »
Davido then upped the ante, slamming Wizkid’s petite-looking self and alleging that his shoe size was seven.
He further claimed that the ‘Holla At Your Boy’ breakout star buys his shoes from Footlocker Kids, a leading footwear and apparel retailer in the US.
« Size 7 shoe niggga shop at Footlocker kids… » he tweeted.
The two singers’ beef appears to have been promoted by pompous tweets made over the weekend by fellow Afrobeat star Rema who claimed that he also belonged to the « Big 4 » – a euphemism for four of the biggest Nigerian music stars, Davido, Wizkid and Burna Boy.
