Libération au Sahel : l’Algérie récupère un otage allemand enlevé au Niger

Un ressortissant allemand, kidnappé il y a une quinzaine de jours au Niger par un groupe armé, a été remis vendredi aux autorités militaires algériennes. Saine et sauve, la victime devrait rapidement regagner son pays, mettant fin au mutisme officiel qui entourait sa disparition dans une région en proie à une forte instabilité.

Une exfiltration par les airs

Le dénouement de cette affaire a été rendu public ce samedi. Le ministère algérien de la Défense a en effet annoncé que ses services de sécurité avaient pris en charge la veille le citoyen allemand identifié sous le nom d’Olomaskan Sinan. Selon la déclaration officielle, l’ancien otage a été évacué «sur une base aérienne spéciale depuis la base de déploiement secondaire d’In Guezzam, dans la sixième région militaire, vers la base aérienne de Boufarik, située dans la première région militaire».

Des semaines de détention dans le désert

Bien que des rumeurs persistantes fissent état de l’enlèvement d’un citoyen allemand au Niger depuis plusieurs jours, aucune source officielle n’avait jusqu’alors confirmé l’information. L’homme est finalement réapparu après avoir été aux mains d’une «organisation criminelle armée» pendant près de deux semaines. Le communiqué précise que le rescapé se trouve dans un état de santé jugé satisfaisant et sera «remis ultérieurement aux autorités allemandes». Il a par ailleurs eu l’occasion de relater les circonstances de sa captivité et a exprimé sa gratitude envers l’armée algérienne pour son intervention.

Le Niger, épicentre de l’insécurité

Ce rapt s’inscrit dans un contexte sécuritaire particulièrement dégradé. Depuis plus de dix ans, le Niger est le théâtre d’attaques meurtrières perpétrées par des factions affiliées à Al-Qaïda et au groupe État islamique. L’instabilité chronique qui ronge le pays n’a pas été enrayée par la junte militaire, arrivée au pouvoir à la suite du coup d’État de juillet 2023.

إجلاء جوي وتأمين سريع

أعلنت وزارة الدفاع الجزائرية في بيان لها يوم السبت أن مصالح أمن الجيش تكفلت بالرعية الألماني، أولوماسكان سنان، الذي تعرض للاختطاف في النيجر. وأفاد البيان الرسمي بأنه تم نقل الرهينة المحرر « على متن طائرة خاصة من قاعدة الانتشار الثانوية بإن فزام بالناحية العسكرية السادسة نحو القاعدة الجوية ببوفاريك بالناحية العسكرية الأولى ».

أسبوعان من الاحتجاز

رغم تداول تقارير إعلامية منذ أيام حول حادثة اختطاف مواطن ألماني في النيجر، لم تؤكد أي جهة رسمية الخبر حتى لحظة الإعلان الجزائري. وأشار المصدر ذاته إلى أن المواطن الألماني يتمتع بوضع صحي مستقر وسيتم « تسليمه لاحقاً إلى السلطات الألمانية ». وقد تحدث سنان عن « ظروف اختطافه من طرف المجموعة الإجرامية المسلحة التي احتجزته لمدة أسبوعين تقريباً »، معرباً عن شكره وامتنانه الكبيرين للسلطات العسكرية الجزائرية.

وضع أمني هش في النيجر

تأتي هذه الحادثة لتسلط الضوء مجدداً على التدهور الأمني في النيجر، حيث تشهد البلاد منذ عقد من الزمن هجمات دموية تنفذها جماعات متطرفة تابعة لتنظيمي القاعدة وداعش. ولم يتمكن النظام العسكري، الذي استولى على السلطة إثر انقلاب يوليو 2023، من السيطرة على دائرة العنف المتصاعدة.

Airborne Evacuation

The resolution was made public on Saturday when the Algerian Ministry of Defense announced that its army security services had taken custody of the German citizen, identified as Olomaskan Sinan. According to the official statement, the freed hostage was transported « on a special plane from the secondary deployment base in In Guezzam in the Sixth Military Region to the Boufarik Air Base in the First Military Region ».

Weeks of Captivity

While rumors had circulated for days regarding the abduction of a German citizen in Niger, no official source had confirmed the information until now. The statement noted that the former hostage is in good health and will be « handed over later to the German authorities ». Sinan recounted the « circumstances of his kidnapping by the armed criminal group that held him for about two weeks », while expressing his deep gratitude to the Algerian military authorities.

Niger’s Security Crisis

This kidnapping highlights the severely degraded security environment in Niger. For over a decade, the country has faced deadly attacks carried out by groups affiliated with Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State. The chronic instability plaguing the nation has not been contained by the military regime that took power following the July 2023 coup.
